How Period Underwear Can Help with Endometriosis Symptoms

I know how challenging endometriosis can be—the pain, the exhaustion, the constant search for a better solution. The helplessness, the uncertainty. The pain. Many of my friends share similar experiences. If you’re going through the same thing, I have a tip for you: period underwear.

My Personal Journey to Period Underwear

For a long time, I struggled through my period with tampons and pads. Tampons often felt uncomfortable, and pads just weren’t reliable enough. When I was diagnosed with endometriosis, I started looking for ways to make my period more manageable. I wanted a solution that wouldn’t add more stress to my body.

A friend introduced me to Gotyu period underwear. At first, I was skeptical—would it really be secure? Would I feel comfortable? But I was willing to try anything that could help. And today, I can say: I never expected such a simple change to make such a big difference.

How Can Period Underwear Reduce Pain?

Tampons and menstrual cups can put stress on the body because they subconsciously activate the pelvic floor muscles. This can actually intensify pain rather than relieve it, as the muscles struggle to relax and instead tense up. Period underwear, on the other hand, is soft and applies no pressure—neither internally nor externally—allowing the body to just be. This can make a huge difference.

My Experience with Different Gotyu Models

After my first positive experience with Gotyu period underwear, I wanted to find out which styles worked best for me. I tried different cuts and absorbencies—here are my favorites:

✔ Gaia: Perfect for when I’m out and about, at work, or traveling because it has a side opening. This means I can change it easily without having to undress completely.

✔ Luna: My absolute lifesaver at night. Endometriosis can cause especially heavy bleeding, and I used to constantly worry about leaking. With Luna, I can finally sleep through the night without waking up to check if everything is okay.

Hera: The high-waist design feels incredibly comfortable, especially on days when I feel bloated and unwell. It gives me a sense of security and comfort.

Becoming More Aware of My Cycle

One thing I truly discovered through period underwear is a deeper awareness of my cycle. I can feel exactly when my period starts, how my body changes, and what it needs at any given moment. Practicing free bleeding has helped me connect with my menstruation in a completely new way, making it easier to understand and manage my symptoms.

Why Raising Awareness About Endometriosis Matters

Did you know that around   two million people   in Germany suffer from endometriosis (not including undiagnosed cases)? On average, it takes   seven and a half years   to receive a diagnosis—a painfully long time filled with uncertainty. That’s why March was declared   Endometriosis Awareness Month   in 1993, to bring more attention to this condition.

I believe it’s important not only to talk about endometriosis but also to explore ways to relieve its symptoms. Of course, period underwear isn’t a cure, but if it provides even a little bit of relief, that’s already a huge win.

My Conclusion: Why I’m Never Going Back

I never thought that such a simple change—switching to Gotyu period underwear—would help me manage my endometriosis symptoms better. It gives me comfort, security, and a whole new connection to my body.

So if you’re looking for a gentler, more natural solution, I can only recommend trying it for yourself.

Maybe it will help you as much as it helped me—and make your period a little more bearable. If you’re not sure where to start, take a look at Gotyu’s models and find the perfect period underwear for you.
